  • Community Assessment Visit Program which provides reimbursement for travel and accommodation expenses incurred by a family physician (and spouse) for the purpose of assessing practice opportunities in communities in Ontario. To be eligible to participate in the program, the physician must obtain written approval for the visit from the UAP before visiting the community.

Centre Grey Area Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee provides:

Mission Statement
To raise, manage and disburse funds to support and enrich quality health care for residents of and visitors to our community.

The Centre Grey community is strongly supportive of our health care professionals. The following initiatives have been funded since the Foundation’s establishment in 1998:

  • The very successful capital campaign that raised over $13 million dollars to support the building of a new state-of-the-art acute care hospital
  • Contributing over $1 million dollars for the purchase and installation of new digital x-ray equipment including the Picture Archiving System
  • Providing funds for a new sterilization unit, a new operating table, a new colonoscope, equipment and materials for orthopaedic surgery and most recently a new C-Arm x-ray machine

The Foundation maintains a small furnished apartment for the use of visiting medical residents and students.

Centre Grey Hospital Auxiliary

Centre Grey Hospital Auxiliary is a group of dedicated volunteers who assist the hospital and its staff in many ways. They provide valued in-patient visiting and other services as well as assisting with the purchase of needed capital-cost items.

Recently the Auxiliary contributed $400,000 to the fundraising campaign for the hospital rebuild planned for our community. By staffing and managing the Penny Wise Shop which sells donated used clothing and small household articles, the Auxiliary raises over $20,000 annually. Staff and visitors to the Hospital enjoy their coffee kiosk which also sells snacks and small gift items. The funds raised are used to help provide high quality patient care and keep equipment and the facility up-to-date.

Volunteers also assist with the local Canadian Blood Services donor clinics, ensuring the comfort and care of donors.

In all of their activities, the Auxiliary members are true ambassadors for the Centre Grey Hospital.
