Mission Statement
To raise, manage and disburse funds to support and enrich quality health care for residents of and visitors to our community.

The Centre Grey community strongly supports our health care professionals. This has been shown through the Foundation’s many successful fundraisers for new hospital equipment purchases and through the capital campaign for a new hospital that raised over $13 million dollars from the community to support the construction of a new state-of-the-art acute care hospital in Markdale. The Foundation continuously endeavors to keep Centre Grey Hospital well equipped with up to date medical equipment.

Notable Foundation achievements include:

  • contributing over $1 million dollars for the purchase and installation of new digital x-ray equipment, including the Picture Archiving System (PACS);
  • providing funds for a new sterilization unit, a new operating table, a new colonoscope, equipment and materials for orthopaedic surgeries;
  • and funding the purchase of a new C-Arm x-ray machine.

In 2010/2011 the Foundation will purchase two new electrocardiogram machines and a portable ultrasound machine for the emergency room.

The Foundation maintains a small furnished apartment for the use of visiting medical residents and students.

Centre Grey Hospital Auxiliary

Centre Grey Hospital Auxiliary is a group of dedicated volunteers who assist the hospital and its staff in many ways. They provide valued in-patient visiting and other services as well as providing funds towards the purchase of needed capital-cost items.

Recently the Auxiliary contributed $400,000 to the fundraising campaign for the hospital rebuild planned for our community. By staffing and managing the Penny Wise Shop which sells donated used clothing and small household articles, the Auxiliary raises over $20,000 annually. Staff and visitors to the Hospital enjoy their coffee kiosk which also sells snacks and small gift items. The funds raised are used to help provide high quality patient care and keep equipment and the facility up-to-date.

Volunteers also assist with the local Canadian Blood Services donor clinics, ensuring the comfort and care of donors.

In all of their activities, the Auxiliary members are true ambassadors for the Centre Grey Hospital.
