The largest villages in the Centre Grey Hospital catchment area are Markdale, Flesherton and Dundalk. You will find a variety of interesting shops and a wide selection of family-oriented services. Many community events, including festivals, fairs, outdoor jamborees, Santa Claus parades and an annual evening “Street Frolic” on the main street in Markdale all bring people together for fun and celebration.

You are near the centre of the area’s great outdoor activities. In only 15 minutes, you could be hiking the world-renowned Bruce Trail or downhill skiing in the beautiful Beaver Valley. It’s just a few minutes to cross-country skiing trails, biking on a trail system, canoeing on the Beaver or Saugeen Rivers, birding in the Wodehouse Marsh, golfing at your choice of several courses, curling at the Markdale Golf and Country Club, sailing on Georgian Bay or trout or salmon fishing in the Rocky Saugeen, the Bighead or the Sydenham Rivers.

While the community is rich in unspoiled amenities, Toronto’s airport is less than 2 hours away. Take your choice: from Georgian Bay, you can sail around the world; or from Pearson International, you can fly around the world.

Local health care has always been a priority in the Centre Grey area. Our communities have enthusiastically raised over 13 million dollars as the local share of the upcoming Centre Grey Hospital rebuild project. This new state-of-the-art facility will be located close to our modern, long-term care home named Grey Gables, creating an integrated health care campus in Markdale.

Our regional hospital with a full range of consulting specialists is located just 30 minutes north of Markdale in the city of Owen Sound.

The communities of Markdale, Flesherton, and Dundalk are located on Highway #10 about 100 km. north of Brampton. There are also several villages in the Centre Grey area. Light manufacturing, agriculture, small business, artists, artisans and recreation all contribute to the local economy.
